"title": "What it means for your home",
"text": "An air quality management area is a measure of the air, not a set of rules. It was declared because nitrogen dioxide along the A37 went above the national annual average objective of 40 micrograms per cubic metre. It does not change what you can do with your home: no new limits on parking, stoves, fuel or driving, and nothing new for trees or garden work. What changes is on the council's side, which must keep an action plan to bring the levels down. The zone runs along the A37 through Temple Cloud, starting about 245 m north of the A37 and Temple Inn Lane junction and ending about 150 m south of the A37 and Eastcourt Road junction. It reaches about 13 m from the centre of the road, so it covers the fronts and gardens of the houses nearest the main road, in the Mendip part of the parish. If your home sits well back from the A37, it is likely outside, but the only reliable way to check is the Temple Cloud AQMA map on the council's air quality management areas page. If you are planning building work near the road, look at that map first, then check with the council's planning service whether air quality is relevant to your application. Levels here have been falling, and the council can remove the designation if monitoring shows the objectives are being met.",
